Being homeless isn’t a crime, try helping them

-

❑ Why is rough sleeping a crime? Crime normally requires a deliberate intention to do something wrong and no one would choose to become a rough sleeper. The usual causes involve mental health, drug abuse or sexual abuse and not a voluntary, positive choice. The best option would be to remove homelessness, not by punishing them or moving them out of sight but by providing free, basic, safe accommodation and support services to help them resolve the issues that made them choose to be homeless. This is not a crime. Dennis Fitzgerald

❑ what a wonderful time to be alive, drive down the road trying to find a bit without a crater in, try to get hold of a gp is harder than finding a unicorn, once busy high streets are now crumbling slums, once busy shops are now boarded up, but the tax bill still goes up, council tax, income tax road tax, vat, and NI, so where does this money go. john challenger

❑ An ecoli ridden Boat Race sadly highlights rivers / oceans sewage with Thames Water accused of asset stripping ripping off the taxpayer whilst billions were paid to investors. Thames is viewing an extra 40% on taxpayer bills. GOVE aware since 2018 called in Thames Water to ‘stop the leaks’ now squarely hanging them ‘out to dry’ when The TORIES 1989 sold off Thames arguing the state will never prioritize water with other demands on its private purse. Tell that to the boat crews. Brian Linford

❑ Looking like tories wil leave UK in a far worse state than they found it in 2010. Virtually every public service creaking under strains. ANGST

❑ I wonder if the government will ever step in and change the timing when utility companies put bills up (1st April) as people on low income minimum wage, UC or disability benefits as most jobs are a month lying on and benefits are a month in arrears unfortunately I’m on disability benefits and my first payment with a rise is 16th May – 7 weeks after utility bills have gone up. Geoff Newcastle

❑ April Fools Day: For us British fools it’s everything in price goes up day, Council Tax, Broadband, Internet, Water Charges, Gas and Electric charges, Food, Car Tax and fuel and repairs, ect ect. TOD

❑ It’s Tuesday morning, and I’m sat here hoping Monday’s report that ‘Biggles’ is facing electoral wipeout wasn’t just your idea of an April Fools’ Day joke. Surely you couldn’t be that twisted. Could you!? RedLeader

❑ spotted your April fools joke today! About the record of boat crossings oh no not a joke it’s bloddy true! Mr tea

❑ If ever proof were needed that the police are only here to protect the elite, nothing illustrates this more than the case of a young Derbyshire couple with a new baby who were scammed out of a £700 laptop, despite couple having CCTV footage of scammers car, Derbyshire police say no action will be taken, disgraceful, and they wonder why public opinion of them is lower than a snakes belly. Ivor Biggun Derby ❑ nobody these days seems to hold a pen correctly. most people seem to strangle the life out of it and the weird grips i see are too many to mention. do they not teach kids how to hold a pen properly in school? dave from coppull

❑ Keep 2m distance from seagulls and pigeons. How is that possible? Pigeons only come near you when you feed them bread – like we do. You can’t leave them to starve as they have much right to live everyone else. Squirrel

❑ Boffins say that we should make friends with seagulls, and that we should see them as “charismatic”. This advice will seem hard to swallow when you’ve just had one attempting to divebomb your fish and chips! Dave Pinfold, Stockport
