Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont return to our screens for series five of their hit comedy show

-

Married comedians Jon and Lucy – aka the Richardsons – are back for another hilarious mockumentary series about their lives. From career highlights to failures and arguments, Jon and Lucy aren’t afraid to cover it all.

The 10-parter sees Lucy very busy with Taskmaster, Bake Off

and Celebrity Chinese Whispers,

all of which have come off the back of her Bafta nomination for Meet The Richardsons.

Meanwhile, Jon is plotting his escape from telly – a theme that’s appropriate as Lucy predicts the show is coming to an end.

“This will probably be the last one, and we’re going out on a high,” teases Lucy. “It carries on from series four. I ramp up my career and Jon ramps up wanting to venture out into other things. It’s the funniest one yet, now that we’ve got to grips with this mockumentary genre – it was an experiment in the beginning.”

There have always been celebrity guests appearing on the series, and this one is no different. Stars joining the Richardsons this time round include Adrian Chiles, Stephen Mangan, Kimberly Wyatt and Steve Pemberton. But there was one man in particular Lucy loved sharing the screen with. “Working with Julian Clary and his swearing – he’s a comedy genius,” laughs Lucy. “Julian’s so understated, he’s one of them where you don’t think they’re doing a lot, but they are. We first met on Taskmaster.” Working with your spouse could prove tricky for some, but Lucy assures us that’s not the case here. “Jon and I make a good team,”she says.“It’s a great working environment because it feels like a big group of friends. It’s a shame that you can’t see the crew off camera because most of them have worked on the show from the beginning. It’s like a holiday for them.”
