Jamie’s aiming for a KO TAKE LIBERTIES

-

PETE Doherty once stood up for them but The K’s are refusing to stand aside for

The Libertines.

The bands are going headto-head for this week’s No1 album.

And newcomers The K’s are doing all they can to win the race with their debut LP I Wonder If The World Knows – even if they are big Libertines fans.

Singer Jamie Boyle told me: “It’s exactly what we wanted to be honest, to be in a fight for the top and to be amongst massive names like

The Libertines and

Beyoncé. Hopefully we can see it through and get it over the line come Friday. We’re sandwiched between Beyoncé and The Libertines and that is a sentence I never thought I would say.

“It’s madness, absolute madness because they are my favourite band ever, there’s no dressing it up, The

Libertines are my favourite band.” Pete once defended the lads when their set over-ran, causing The Libertines to be late on stage.

James said: “We were playing a festival last year and we actually got pulled off stage because The Libertines were headlining that day, and we overrun, and Pete was standing at the side of the stage going, ‘Let them play, let them play!’”

There’s no doubt that the band want to build on the excitement that surrounds them.

They’ve already started to talking about the next record: “It’s hard to describe it without you hearing the songs, they are still The K’s songs but just a little bit more well written, and well produced maybe. We’re really excited.

“Our plan is to get straight to album two, see what deals are on the table, I’m sure we will have a few!”
