Crysencio double seals real thriller

ADVANTAGE Leeds in the incredible 90-point plus three-club race to the Premier League.

Crysencio Summerville scored twice, and made another, to fire Leeds into second spot.

Daniel Farke’s side ran riot on Teesside, banishing their recent dip in form with a powerful show that turns the screw on rivals Ipswich and Leicester.

The Yorkshire side play QPR on Friday night, before Ipswich’s next game, and victory in that one would put them back on the brink of a return to the top flight.

United blew Boro away after a goalladen first half with precision and pace on the counter-attack.

It was an explosive first half with five goals in the first 38 minutes. Leeds were suffering some late-season jitters, with just one point from three games, and that intensified with Boro’s positive start.

The Teessiders took the lead after just seven minutes through Isaiah Jones, who tapped into an empty net.

But Leeds came roaring back with two goals in four minutes, the first a penalty.

Georginio Rutter burst into the area and was tripped by Anfernee Dijksteel and referee Tony Harrington awarded the kick. Summerville stepped up to level with the game 14 minutes old.

Leeds sensed blood and it took a clever finish from Patrick Bamford to ease them ahead.

Junior Firpo curled in a lovely cross and Bamford improvised to get there ahead of Seny Dieng and bump over the line with his stomach.

This wasn’t a game for the faint hearted and Boro showed spirit to come back. Emmanuel Latte Lath grabbed the game’s fourth goal to level.

Leeds’ centre-backs were not aggressive enough as Latte Lath turned and wriggled across the box. The Ivorian reversed a shot to Illan Meslier’s right which he couldn’t lay a finger on.

The goals kept coming, the next for Leeds, but there was good fortune as the officials missed a blatant offside.

Wilfried Gnonto was infringing when he received a pass from Summerville after great work from Archie Gray and finished expertly, but there was no flag.

Summerville sealed the crucial win on the hour, adding to his penalty with a brilliant individual strike.

Latte Lath got his second of the night with a looping back header with three minutes to go, but there was no late recovery. Are Leeds on the up?
