KYLE’S GOT A DOUBLE SHOT AT GOING UP

KYLE WALKER-PETERS believes Southampton have the measure of play-off opponents West Brom – and Leeds, if they end up facing them in the final.

Saints’ victory at Elland Road means they have done the double over both clubs this season.

And their England international full-back (above) feels that gives Russell Martin’s men an edge.

“I think we should take a lot of belief. We’re aware that we could end up playing Leeds who are a good team but for the second time this season we’ve shown we can get the better of them,” said Walker-Peters.

“We know what we need to do to beat West Brom. Anything can happen and they will be even more up for it knowing that we’ve beaten them twice but we’ll be going into it very confident.”

First-half goals from Adam Armstrong and Will Smallbone snapped a run of three losses and sends Saints into Sunday’s first leg at The Hawthorns with a spring in their step.

The same cannot be said for Leeds who have collapsed like a cooling soufflé on the run-in after just one win in the final seven regular season games.

Leeds, who can now count Will Ferrell as one of their owners after the Hollywood actor bought a small minority stake, will have to overcome the fatalism among fans from five past play-off failures in five attempts.

For manager Daniel Farke, trying to lift the curse, Sunday’s first leg at Norwich brings a reunion with the club he guided to two automatic promotions.

“It’s a bit special,” said Farke. “I have to say my first return back to Carrow Road as an opponent’s manager was quite emotional.

“I will always be grateful for this club, for fantastic memories and a great time. It’s always good to be able to meet some friendly and kind people over there.

“But my only focus right now is here. It feels like this team is the third best team in this league and we fully deserve to reward ourselves with the big prize of promotion.”
