FUL STEAM AHEAD AFTER SILVA SALVO

-

MARCO SILVA says he has unfinished business with Manchester City after his Etihad explosion.

Fulham take on City eager to avenge a 5-1 mauling in September which left the Cottagers boss furious.

His side were heading into half-time level, only for VAR to deem an offside Manuel Akanji did not interfere with a goal by Nathan Ake.

Silva was so incensed he was booked for leading the protests and has not forgotten. He said: “It was one of the biggest mistakes

“We were going into half-time at 1-1 and it allowed them to go into half-time at 2-1.

“It had a huge impact. It’s in the past now. I hope for a good performance this time from my team.”

Silva said recently he is already making plans for next season and seeing what the club needs to do in the transfer market.

And he held talks with the club’s owners about targets and budgets again this week. Silva added: “We have been talking. We had a meeting on Wednesday. I expect everything to be more clear in the next week. It’s important to put on the table the plan we have.”

(inset) also confirmed that striker Jay Stansfield will stay with the club next season after his loan spell at Birmingham.

The England Under-21 international could not prevent Brum’s relegation from the Championship. But he scored an impressive 13 goals in all competitions and he will now get a chance to impress at Craven Cottage.

Silva said: “He’s going to be back with us. Everything we planned, apart from the collective goal of Birmingham, was a box ticked.

“To be able to give a step forward in the Championship and score important goals… Jay achieved all the important things.”
