In brief
Koch sale could fetch US$15m A selection of wines from the vast collection of billionaire anti-fakes crusader Bill Koch is expected to fetch up to US$15m when it is sold by Sotheby’s this month. Wines from the Cellar of William I Koch, scheduled for New York on 19-21 May, features more than 20,000 bottles and about 2,700 lots, including more than 125 offerings of Château Latour alone, and numerous other blue-chip wines. Whiskies lift Steinfels sale Rare whisky helped boost takings at Steinfels’ 5 March sale in Zurich, which realised nearly CHF1.3m (£950,000). Bowmore performed strongly among more than 200 whisky lots, while Georges Roumier, Armand Rousseau and top-notch Bordeaux were fine wine highlights. Steinfels reported global interest, despite UK buyers being less active due to sterling’s fall against the Swiss franc.
