Côtes de Bordeaux
As wiTH FRoNsAC, Castillon and Francs are the appellations to look to for quality and value in 2015. The limestone-clay terroir is cool and generally later ripening, but this was not a problem in this warm, dry year. water stress was avoided and maturity achieved at roughly the same time as on the plateau and côtes of st-Emilion (23 september to 8 october). The wines have a minerally freshness and energy as well as a quality of fruit and tannin and can age. Castillon has also benefited from a new wave of investment and expertise.
