£50 Vinissimus Scala Dei was a holy place for the monks who lived there, so there’s a religious link to the wine’s name, ‘ Heretic’. It also refers to winemaker Ricard Rofes, a dedicated ‘Garnachista’, here turning his hand to Cariñena. This is only the second vintage, rich and fleshy, dark in colour and in character. Textured tannins with a little rusticity. Fresh, savoury finish. Drink 2021-2025 Alc 15%
