The wines to match

-

Margaux is a great match with slow- cooked lamb, because the texture and precision of the tannins in wine from this appellation complement the finesse of the lamb.

Try: Château d’Issan, Margaux 3GCC, Bordeaux, France 2010 96 £70.50-£ 100 Fareham Wine Cellar, Millésima, Nemo Wine Cellars

Beautifully aromatic and perfumed, rich, concentrated, full of tension and authority while also bright and refreshing on the palate. Velvety texture, with tannins that envelop the mouth, bringing a fullness to the ripe cherry, plum and cassis fruit, with liquorice and earthy edges. Decant at least three hours before serving.

The Syrah wines of the northern Rhône appellation of Crozes- Hermitage are a great alternative match for slowcooked lamb. The best wines from the commune have a beautiful structure, density and elegance that work superbly with this lamb dish.

Try: Cave de Tain, Exploration, Crozes-Hermitage, Rhône, France 2019 92

All About Wine,

Kwoff, Taurus Wines, T Wright Wine, The Grayshott Wine Co Flowing, ripe, pure berry fruit. Tannins fine and well handled. A good sense of direction despite the intense fruit ripeness, and this is better balanced than many 2019 Crozes. No added sulphites.

2021-2022 Alc 13.5%
