FLECHAS DE LOS ANDES

Celebrating two decades of success in the Uco Valley

-

The millennium saw Uco Valley emerge as one of the world’s most promising new wine regions. Among its pioneers were Benjamin de Rothschild (son of Baron Edmond de Rothschild), his wife Ariane de Rothschild (CEO of the Edmond de Rothschild Group) and Laurent Dassault (member of the board of Groupe Industriel Marcel Dassault). In 2003, they founded Bodega Flechas de los Andes, a French-influenced winery that has made an indelible mark on the region, earning global recognition for its worldclass wines, which take full advantage of the terroir’s outstanding qualities.

Vision, courage and legacy

The winery is currently run by Ariane de Rothschild, and co-founder Laurent Dassault. Founded with a deep respect for its origins, Flechas de los Andes is located at the foot of the Andes at 1,100m above sea level, where vineyards are planted on a dry and sun-soaked plateau – ideal conditions for sustainable viticulture. In line with the winery’s organic philosophy – and having eliminated the use of herbicides – the agricultural practices applied at Flechas de los Andes seek to achieve a balance with the native flora.

Innovation founded on tradition

Under the technical direction of the Mendozan winemaker Pablo Richardi, Flechas de los Andes has become one of the most successful estates in the Uco Valley. Richardi’s extensive study of the local terroir and Malbec, as well as the winery’s own massal selections of Argentina’s flagship variety, have built the estate’s reputation for capturing the essence of this unique landscape, using only the highest quality grapes from its 102 hectares of vines.

An innovative approach, informed by tradition, has seen precise winemaking methods incorporate foudres, different sized barrels, ceramic vessels and concrete eggs, resulting in a complex and exclusive estate-grown range: Gran Malbec, Gran Cabernet Franc and Gran Corte.

The art of hospitality

The winery’s Santa Fe-style architecture forms a striking silhouette against the sky with its outward extending structures resembling arrows (flechas) – a nod to the estate’s name and the Rothschild family emblem. The interior space unfolds towards the Andes, inviting the landscape in.

Exclusive tours of facilities and vineyards offer unforgettable experiences for visitors. Since 2023, guests can taste the winery’s own range and also other Edmond de Rothschild Heritage wines from the group’s estates in France and New Zealand. This unique proposition solidifies Flechas de los Andes’ distinctive presence in the Uco Valley.
