Family’s plea over alcohol after mum falls to death on stairs

-

A YOUNG Derbyshire mum with a “heart of gold” died from injuries she sustained when she fell down stairs while under the influence of alcohol.

Charlotte Watson, 33, struck her head at the bottom of the stairs.

Partner Chris Hadley administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before emergency services took her to hospital but she died in Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital, leaving a five-year-old son, Teddy. Mr Hadley now wants to raise awareness of how people need to be extra careful after drinking alcohol.

The tragedy happened on September 8 at the family home on Sheffield Road, Killamarsh.

Mr Hadley, who had been in a relationship with Ms Watson for four years, said: “She really did have a heart of gold. She was an amazing person to be around.

“Sadly, the level of alcohol in Charlotte’s system played a big part in her death. It was a freak accident and we don’t want this to happen to anyone else. If you’re drinking, have a good time – but please be extra careful.”

Her mother, Laura Watson, said: “Charlotte was a very bubbly girl, a wonderful person. She had an aura around her.

“Everyone loved her and she’ll be very sadly missed.”

A former student of Bolsover School, Chesterfield College and Sheffield Hallam University, Ms Watson worked as an estimator and a technical engineer at Forticrete in Sheffield.
