Western Power are supporting Service to Sport once again
SOME of the biggest names in business have come together and shown their support for regional sport by sponsoring the 2018 Derby Telegraph Sports Awards.
One of them is Western Power Distribution (WPD), who are sponsoring the Service to Sport category.
Western Power Distribution are the electricity distribution network operator for Derby as well as the rest of the Midlands, South West England and South Wales.
Responsible for 7.9 million customers, they ensure that their electricity network of pylons, poles, cables, wires and substations deliver a safe and reliable electricity supply.
The company are key contributors to the local sporting community as they already sponsor the Derby 10 mile and Wilne 10k races.
And for the second year, Western Power Distribution are putting their weight behind the Service to Sport Award which recognises an individual or organisation who has positively impacted, or changed the lives of, people through sport.
Simon Havill, the Derby distribution manager for Western Power Distribution, said: “We know that sport plays an important role for many people in Derby and as a company who operates in the area we wanted to show our support.
“It is a great opportunity to recognise the hard work and talents right here in the city.
“The Service to Sport category is a very prestigious award, recognising those who have gone the extra mile to improve the lives of many through sport and we are honoured to be associated with this category.”
As a returning sponsor to the awards, Havill is all too aware of the benefits being involved brings for his business.
