Women in Sport award gets top backing from RDS Global
RDS Global are the sponsors of a category making its debut at the 2018 Derby Telegraph Sports Awards - Women in Sport.
This category celebrates the powerful women in sport who are helping break down barriers of inequality across various sporting disciplines.
It turns the spotlight on women at all levels, abilities and roles within sport, whether it be a female coach, athlete, volunteer or personal trainer.
Derby-based IT solutions company RDS Global have been trading for 21 years and support 4,000 users in 200 locations across the UK, providing them with IT support, telephony, CCTV, Cloud Services, Cyber Security and bespoke consultancy and software solutions.
Phil Harvey, managing director at RDS Global, said: “RDS Global Ltd is honored to sponsor this year’s Women in Sport Award.
“We work closely with our community and, in the 21 years we have been trading, it has become even more apparent that we need to take bigger steps in closing the gender equality gap.
“As just one example, we see fewer and fewer women entering the IT sector, so the sporting women nominated for this award are an inspiration to us and future generations of females.
“They demonstrate that we can achieve anything, as long as you work hard. The key to your success is you!”
Harvey explained some of the benefits that come with supporting an event such as the Derby Telegraph Sports Awards.
“Besides significantly benefitting and impacting the sporting community and encouraging more people, young and old, to engage in sport, the awards also benefit our business in other ways too,” he added.
“With hundreds in attendance, the awards are a stellar opportunity for us as a local business to get our name out there and showcase everything we do.
“An open door for businesses, the awards may also see us enter into industries and markets that we are yet to crack and help boost our contact base.”
RDS Global serve customers in the automotive, retail, builders’ merchant, care home, hotel and hospitality sectors. So it’s clear how they contribute to their business community but Harvey was keen to highlight the ways in which they champion sport in other ways, as well as supporting the Derby Telegraph Sports Awards.
“RDS Global have played a key part in sponsoring and supporting local teams, clubs and initiatives,” he said.
“We are the proud sponsors for the Derby County Ladies Under-9s team, as well as sponsors of sportswoman Louise Cook, who is an FIA WRC Production Car Cup Champion and a British Female Rally Champion.”
