GIN by Julie Wigley of Littleover
GIN is IN...
So if you’ve never been enamoured with its flavour Time to savour it once more is surely nigh
GIN is IN...
Not mother’s ruin with a splash of orange cordial
There’s countless combinations now to try
Mixed with ginger ale and ginger beer and tonics most herbaceous Goodness gracious – rosemary and hints of thyme, Aromatic elderflower, angosturas and vanilla,
Zingy citrus notes all lemony and lime
Well you’d think a gin’s a gin – but no There’s hundreds of infusions Such confusion contemplating which to drink
Should you opt for London Dry, Dutch style, botanical or floral Or the one that looks so pretty there in pink?
Each concoction like a work of art – still life with fruit and berries, Olives, cherries and a well placed sprig of mint
Down a single or a double; but do so in moderation
Else you’ll end up very tipsy and quite skint!
GIN is IN...
So if you’ve always thought it vastly overrated
Give it one more chance – it’s really quite the thing
Forget that white wine quaffed in ‘Dallas’
Make haste to that new gin palace Where you’ll find that Juniper has been crowned king
