I was bang out of order, says culprit

THE man filmed throwing food at the homeless man admits he was ‘bang out of order’ and wants to apologise to him.

Adam Thorpe, 29, from Chaddesden, said he was out with friends when he stopped at a takeaway.

He says he saw a man, who he did not believe was homeless, asking people for spare change. Mr Thorpe says he offered him £10 in return for throwing food at him.

This prompted one person to start filming before he went on to throw his takeaway into the man’s face.

Mr Thorpe said he wanted to apologise and that he went to look for the man the next day.

He said: “I felt so bad for what I did afterwards and I spent ages the next day and the day after trying to find him to say I was sorry. I looked all around the centre of Derby trying to find him, but I couldn’t. If I’d thought he was homeless I would never have done it. I wish I could take it back.

“I’ve had so many people try to point me out, but I don’t care about them. All I care about is finding the guy I did it to. It’s between me and him. What everyone is saying online, making stuff up about me, is wrong.

“If I find him, or if he comes forward, I will go into my savings and buy him whatever he wants. What I did was bang out of order.

“I know that, but I don’t deserve the abuse I’m getting online. I’m no angel by any means, but I’m not someone who buys food just to throw at homeless people.”

Mr Thorpe said that since the video was published, he has received threats from people online. He says he does not know if the man received the £10.
