WITH Christmas in full swing, lots of people are hitting the streets, shopping for festive essentials and gifts. It’s the perfect time to treat yourself to an eye test at Specsavers on Oxford Street in Ripley, away from frantic shoppers, and choose some new frames or contact lenses.

Store director, Kuldip Dosanjh, says: “Routine eye examinations are an important health check. They don’t just look at the quality of your vision, but the overall health of your eyes too. At Specsavers, we recommend having your eyes checked every two years, or sooner if you notice any changes.”

Specsavers Ripley now also offers eye health clinics. The clinics are for people with minor eye problems including dry eye and red eye, as part of an extended service to customers. Anyone who has discomfort in their eyes, including pain, redness or flashes of light can now visit the store instead of going to their GP or hospital.

Kuldip explains: “Our opticians and optometrists are already providing an important health check through eye tests. This new service takes our clinical expertise a step further and enhances the care we offer to our local community. As well as often being more convenient than visiting a GP or hospital setting, it comes with the added benefit of helping to reduce the pressure on our local NHS services.”

The qualified and experienced staff at Specsavers Ripley can treat customers with a number of minor eye conditions. Appointments are available seven days a week, subject to availability, and can be booked by phone, in store or online.

An eye test can be a welcome break from the rush of Christmas preparations and a chance to take some time to choose a new look for yourself. The store will give you a gift too, with 2 for 1 on many glasses in the £69 to £169 ranges.

Some people worry about braving Christmas parties without their glasses and might not realise they could choose contact lenses if they prefer.

Technology in contact lenses has moved on in leaps and bounds, with more people than ever before able to choose them. Lenses are now more comfortable and available in a wider variety of prescriptions.

It’s Ripley Specsavers’ fifth Christmas in the town. Kuldip says: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to our customers and community who have supported us this year. We’re delighted to be celebrating the festive season in Ripley and wish everyone a very happy Christmas.”
