THE perfect Christmas treat for the little ones, this year’s CBeebies Christmas Show is Thumbelina - and it’s heading to cinemas across the country.

The festive interactive treat airs in local cinemas on December 15 for a family-friendly experience which recreates the Thumbelina stage performance on the big screen for children of all ages.

The production was filmed in Stoke-on-Trent in early November.

Thumbelina follows the adventures of a girl no bigger than the size of a thumb who heads out on a journey to find out more about true identity in an oversized world of woodland creatures and giant plants.

Lost and alone with no name, Thumbelina dreams of becoming like a butterfly, which draws her in to a nearby animal party where bugs, spiders, toads, and mice are all celebrating the End of Summer and Start of Winter.

But all is not what it seems, and Thumbelina quickly has to find the find the inner strength to stand up for herself.

The local screenings also include an exclusive additional show made specifically for cinema audiences titled Justin’s Countdown to Christmas, which features CBeebies star Justin Fletcher.

In Nottingham, fans can catch a showing at Savoy, Showcase, Cineworld and Broadway Cinemas.

In Derby, the performance can be seen at Odeon, Showcase and Quad. In Leicester, Showcase, Odeon, Vue, and Regal cinemas will all be airing the production.
