Man arrested on suspicion of murder

A MURDER investigation has been launched by Derbyshire police following the discovery of a woman’s body in South Normanton.

The body was found in a house in Alfred Street on Thursday morning.

Paramedics found the woman’s body at around 10am after receiving a 999 call.

A 39-year-old man was arrested on Thursday night on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Police have announced that people living in the area can expect to see an increase in the number of officers on the streets over the coming days.

Police are appealing for anyone with any information that could assist them to contact them.

They want to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area on Wednesday night or in the early hours of Thursday.
