Road is to reopen after months of repair work

-

A BUSY road in a Derby suburb will reopen this week after months of disruption.

Dale Road, in Spondon, has been partly closed since October, but is set to reopen on Friday after the final surfacing is completed.

The essential roadworks project has affected the road in both directions between the junctions of Moor End and Sancroft Road, taking nearly eight weeks to complete.

News of the reopening was announced via the Spondon Councillors Facebook page, which released a letter given to residents in Dale Road and surrounding streets by Derby City Council. A spokesperson for the authority said: “Derby City Council is intending to carry out the final surfacing of Dale Road on the following dates, weather permitting: Wednesday, December 19 to Friday, December 21.

“The existing road closure and signed diversion routes will remain in place whilst the road is being surfaced and the hours of work will be 8am to 5pm.

“To ensure the work is not delayed unnecessarily, it would be very helpful if vehicles normally parked at properties on Dale Road, Dreyfus Close, Glendale Drive and other side roads could be moved, where possible, to locations outside the closure zone by 8am on the above dates.

“We will endeavour to ensure all residents affected by the surfacing work can access their properties with minimum disruption.

“However, during the work, we need to ensure everyone is kept safe and, as a result, you may experience some delays in gaining access.

“Please be patient, there will be traffic marshals to direct traffic and assist you in accessing your property. Refuse will be collected as usual, so please put your bin out on the normal day.”
