Neighbours welcome park plan for 700-home development
A CONSULTATION on the Manor Kingsway housing development was responded to positively by locals, according to one of the area’s ward councillors.
The event, held at the Beefeater Pub on Tuesday, December 11, was a chance for residents to consider the proposals for the “major public open space being created”, according to Littleover councillor Lucy Care.
The development includes an area called ‘Bramle Brook’ which will house children’s play areas, sports facilities, allotments, wildlife areas and ponds.
It is all part of the Manor Kingsway scheme which will bring 700 new homes to the former Kingsway hospital site. The Manor Kingsway development being built by Kier Living
Liberal Democrat councillor Lucy Care said: “Residents thought it was brilliant that it was happening but wanted further information.
“Some interesting ideas came forward at the consolation. People were grateful that there is going to be a park as it is something we are short of.”
She said people from the Uttoxeter New Road area and residents from Manor Park flats attended.
Ms Care said: “Somebody said we could have a football pitch and another said it would be good to have a cafe.”
Kier Living, behind the scheme, has pledged that as part of the plans it would make improvements to roads.
