Taunted for being in a Rams shirt
VIDEO SEEMS TO SHOW HUMILIATING ACTIONS
A VIDEO of a vulnerable young man appearing to be taunted for wearing a Derby County kit has been viewed tens of thousands of times online.
The clip, which appears to have been taken in Nottinghamshire, sees a man appearing to humiliate his victim using an unsavoury taunt often aimed at Rams fans.
The video, which the Derby Telegraph’s website has chosen not to publish, has been slammed by viewers who have called it “bang out of order”, “disgusting” and “shocking”.
Nottinghamshire Police say they are treating the incident as a hate crime and have appealed to the public for information.
A spokesperson said: “We’re aware of a video circulating on social media and we are working together with Nottingham Forest Football Club to investigate the incident.
“We are treating the incident as a hate crime.
“We’re appealing for anyone who knows who made the video to get in contact with us.
“We’d also like to appeal directly to the person responsible for making the video to get in touch with us so they can explain their actions.
“We’re also keen to speak to anyone who knows the victim.
“Please call us on 101, quoting incident number 408 of December 17, 2018.”
A woman, who claimed to be the victim’s cousin, said the family was “devastated” by the clip. She wrote on Facebook: “We are all devastated and shocked. Don’t even know how and when this was filmed.” The Derby Telegraph has left a message with this woman but has not yet received a response.
The video looks to have been taken outside a shop while the young man, wearing a Rams top, is packing his bag.

The young man appears confused and, after what appear to be several taunts, replies by asking what the older man’s favourite team is.
When the older man replies that his favourite team is “Forest” the victim explains that he could not wear a Nottingham Forest T-shirt because he did not have one.
The older man then appears to humiliate the young man by getting him to repeat a slur that is often aimed at Rams fans.
