A DAD has branded the mounds of rubbish left at a recycling site in a Derbyshire Sainsbury’s car park as an eyesore.

Shopper Brett Coxon was left disgusted following a trip to the supermarket in Civic Way, Swadlincote, earlier this week.

The father-of-five, from Church Gresley, claims the piles of waste are down to “lazy” customers who “can’t be bothered” to take their rubbish to a nearby tip.

Mr Coxon, who runs his own aerial installation company, said: “There are pushchairs there and all sorts. It’s horrendous.

“It’s an eyesore. It’s stuff that shouldn’t be there anyway, like styrofoam.

“Queuing (for the tip) is a pain, I’ve had to go two or three times and wait half an hour.

“But it’s just one of those things you have to do, you don’t make it someone else’s problem. The piles of rubbish at the Sainsbury’s recycling site that angered Brett Coxon, left. Below, the store says it is looking at ways to deal with the problem Brett Coxon

“If your bin is full, you package it up and take it to the Newhall tip, which is less than a five minute drive away.

“Fair enough, you have to queue, but that’s what it is.”

A spokesman for Sainsbury’s confirmed that the store was looking at ways to deal with the waste problem.

He said: “We’re aware of the issue and are exploring options for preventative measures, as well as introducing additional collections.”
