1 CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE Tonight, Channel 4, 9pm

CALVIN JOYNER (Kevin Hart) is an accountant, reluctant to attend his high-school reunion, as he feels he hasn’t delivered on the promise of his formative years. Out of the blue, old classmate Robbie Weirdicht (Dwayne Johnson) reconnects via social media and the two bond over a couple of drinks. Robbie is a CIA agent, who may be in possession of missile launch codes. A team of rival agents try to recruit Calvin believing Robbie is a terrorist known as the Black Badger. Underscored with a heartfelt anti-bullying message, Central Intelligence is a surprisingly sweet buddy comedy.

2 THE EYES OF ORSON WELLES Tomorrow, BBC4, 9pm

FILM critic-turned-filmmaker Mark Cousins exposes a previously unseen side of director, writer and actor Orson Welles, pictured, in this documentary. Through his works of art, the film reflects the politics and passions of the film titan, drawing parallels between the America of the past and concerns of the present day under the divisive leadership of President Donald Trump.

3 LAYER CAKE Monday, 5STAR, 9pm

DANIEL CRAIG, left, with Colm Meaney, stars as a drug dealer whose ambition is to earn as much money as possible with the least amount of hassle. However, his peaceful existence is shattered when his boss Jimmy asks him to track down the daughter of crime kingpin Eddie Temple. Craig is excellent as the ice-cool lead in this superb thriller.

4 THE HATTON GARDEN JOB Tuesday, Film4, 9pm

FACT is handcuffed to fantasy in this British crime drama which draws inspiration from the 2015 “heist of the century”. Matthew Goode as Basil, is released from prison as the puppet of the Hungarian mafia and must conjure up a huge payday to avoid a shallow grave. So gathers a team of old fashioned experienced criminals to rob the Hatton Garden Safe Deposit Ltd. SONNY (Dev Patel, left), and business partner Muriel (Maggie Smith) know that funding for their new hotel depends on a review from a secret inspector. American novelist Guy (Richard Gere) arrives soon after and Sonny is convinced he must be the inspector and lavishes attention on the writer. An entertaining sequel, which delivers the same winning formula of laughter and tears.

6 THE SWEENEY Thursday, Film4, 10.55pm

FLYING Squad hard man DI Jack Regan, (Ray Winstone, pictured) and sidekick George Carter (Ben Drew) hunt a gang of thieves led by Francis Allen (Paul Anderson), but cannot find sufficient evidence to charge him. Tensions explode when Internal Affairs officer Ivan Lewis (Steven Mackintosh) embarks on a personal crusade to bring down Regan.

7 THE KRAYS Friday, ITV4, 9pm

SPANDAU Ballet siblings Martin and Gary Kemp, pictured, are impressive as Ronnie and Reggie, the vicious Kray twins who ruled Sixties London’s underworld with fear and violence. The result is a stark and occasionally brutal drama, which deals rather well with the complex influences – maternal power, filial devotion and homosexual tension – that shaped the gangland supremos.
