Coun­cil ‘treat­ing Rams fans ‘like chil­dren in bridge safety re­sponse

Sea­son ticket holder Karl Shaw says the coun­cil’s re­sponse was child­ish ac­ci­dent be­fore ac­tion is taken.

He said: “I just thought it was rather poor from the coun­cil given a num­ber of fans had raised real con­cern. There were peo­ple spilling on to the road be­cause of the sheer vol­ume of peo­ple us­ing it at the same time. The city coun­cil are treat­ing us like school­child­ren.

“Most of us are grown adults and for them to make a re­mark like that, it is not ac­tion­ing it at all. Cars travel at a fast pace as well on that road – would the coun­cil tell them to slow down?

“I was an­gry be­cause there was still no an­swer on what is hap­pen­ing with the bridge and no­body has still an­swered the ques­tion whether that bridge is ac­cept­ably safe for hav­ing that amount of peo­ple walk­ing across it.”
