Sarry’s Takeaway, in Cheapside, Derby, was hit with the poor rating following its most recent inspection on November 7. The rating – given by Derby City Council – means “major improvements are necessary”.

The Derby Telegraph has submitted a Freedom of Information request to receive the full food hygiene report for the takeaway to find out why the eatery was given its low rating.

Staff member Hussain Wahid said the firm had applied for a re-inspection and hoped to receive a good rating when visited by inspectors next time, but did not wish to comment further.

According to the Food Standards Agency website, the inspector said “improvement necessary” in regards to hygienic food handling at Sarry’s. Sarry’s Takeaway

In terms of cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene, the eatery was found to be “generally satisfactory”.

However the management of food safety, meaning system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future was rated “major improvement necessary”.
