Harry may be clear to face Saints

-

HARRY Wilson is in contention to play for Derby County in their FA Cup third round replay against Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium tomorrow.

The 21-year-old Welsh international missed the last two games due to a hip problem.

He was injured in the home draw against Middlesbrough on New Year’s Day and sat out the 2-2 draw with Southampton and Friday night’s 2-0 defeat by Leeds United at Elland Road.

Lampard says Derby still have to be careful with Wilson and this will dictate how much of the game he plays.

“Harry is back in contention, which is good news,” Lampard added.

“Whether he is ready to start or not is for us to decide.

“It was a small muscle injury. We still have to be careful with him, so we will see how many minutes (he gets) or whether he starts on Wednesday because he is big for us and we have a big portion of league games coming up, as well.

“We know how important Harry can be.”

Wilson, who is joint top scorer on 10 goals with striker Jack Marriott, had started 19 of the previous 20 games before he was injured. FRANK Lampard has given what he says will be his final words on the “spygate” controversy.

Lampard was left fuming after Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa admitted to sending a member of staff to watch the Rams train last week, ahead of their Championship clash at Elland Road on Friday night.

The man was apprehended by police who were responding to reports of someone acting suspiciously outside Derby’s Moor Farm training ground.

Having not committed any criminal offence, the man was sent on his way - and it later emerged that he was working for Leeds.

Bielsa felt he had done nothing wrong but Leeds have issued an apology and reminded the Argentine about his responsibilities.

The Football Association are looking into the matter, along with the EFL, and we wait to see if any further action will be taken.

Lampard was asked again about the whole affair at his pre-match press conference on Monday, ahead of the Rams’ FA Cup third round replay at Southampton.

Here’s what he had to say...

To say this thing is commonplace in the modern day, I don’t believe it at all

Derby County boss Frank Lampard

What action would you like to see taken against Leeds?

”I actually don’t know. It’s a conversation between the FA and the EFL and it’s for them to decide if it’s
