THE Derby Telegraph Business Awards are back!

It doesn’t seem that long ago that Derby College’s Roundhouse was ringing to the cheers and applause of the county’s business community as the winners of the Derby Telegraph Business Awards 2018 were crowned. Now, we are set to do it all over again in 2019.

As we know from last year’s ceremony, Derby is home to some outstanding businesses.

Now the time has come for them to be given the recognition they deserve by entering the Derby Telegraph Business Awards 2019.

Today, entries open for the awards, which aim to reward the passion, determination, teamwork, and energy which goes into running a top-performing business.

We have again teamed up with Champions (UK) plc to organise the awards, which have already become one of the highlights in Derby’s business calendar.

Companies across the city and county are being encouraged to put themselves forward for this celebration of business excellence.

There are a number of different categories to enter. They are: Company of the Year, SME Business of the Year, Start-up Business of the Year, Business Entrepreneur of the Year, Employer of the Year, Leadership Team of the Year, Creative Communications and Digital Business of the Year, Sales and Marketing Award, Excellence in Manufacturing Award, Apprenticeship Employer of the Year, Excellence in Innovation Award, Customer Service Excellence Award, Contribution to the Community Award and Not-for-profit Organisation Award.

Businesses have until Friday, March 1, to enter – after which the judging process will start.

Once the finalists have been decided, the winners will be revealed at a glittering awards evening that will take place at Derby College’s Roundhouse, on Pride Park, on Wednesday, June 5.

The awards are open to companies of all sizes, and from all sectors.

Perhaps out of all the categories, the one that every business wants to win is the coveted Company of the Year award. This celebrates a business who has stood out from the crowd and performed exceptionally over the course of the year.

The winner of the title last year was renewable energy firm Project Better Energy, which supplies stateof-the-art technology to help people save money and be more environmentally friendly.

New businesses are opening their doors in Derby all the time, and the Start-Up Business of the Year Award celebrates companies who have only been in business for a maximum of three years. Last year, it was won by mobile veterinary practitioners VetCare@Home, a homevisiting mobile vet service.

Manufacturing has long been at the heart of Derby’s economy and the Excellence in Manufacturing Award shines a spotlight on a manufacturer who has really excelled and made a difference to the local economy.
