“We may need to use some of the squad. There are players who are pushing, so there may be some changes,” said Lampard.

Lampard says Derby can take confidence from their comeback.

“We can certainly take confidence from the second half because the players turned the game around. We showed character, we showed quality,” he said.

“We need to do it more consistently because that has been our problem this season with the transition of the team, the youth and the change of style.

“The second half of the season is all about us trying to have that week in, week out.”

Lampard is expecting another tough game.

“Southampton are a team invigorated and playing with more aggression, certainly in the way they work without the ball, and they have quality because they are a Premier League team,” he said.

“They won at the weekend at a very tough place to go, in Leicester.

“We know we have a very tough game coming and that we have to approach it in the right way.”
