O’Neill is a ‘good fix’ for Forest

-

FRANK Lampard believes the appointment of Martin O’Neill at Nottingham Forest will be a “good fix”.

Aitor Karanka left his position as Forest boss on Friday after weeks of intense speculation over his future at the club.

O’Neill was confirmed as his replacement yesterday, having left his role with the Republic of Ireland in November.

The former Aston Villa manager won the European Cup as a player with Forest and Lampard has said the Reds will be getting a man with “huge abilities”.

“I think it is great,” said the Derby County boss on O’Neill.

“Character, personality, a man with huge abilities in terms of his coaching, that has been proved in the clubs he has worked at, domestically and internationally.

“He has a history at Forest, he was a part of their great teams.

“I would be very much looking forward to going up against Martin.

“I know him pretty well, actually, through off the pitch as well.

“Characters like him and talent like him to be at a club like Nottingham Forest is a good fix.

“I think he is a manager that leads with his personality and charisma and lifts players up. He did it with Leicester City.

“He will have a lot of effect on the players.”
