THEME PARK TO CELEBRATE ROLLERCOASTER’S 25TH BIRTHDAY WITH CHEAPER ENTRY
ONE of Alton Towers’ most popular rollercoasters is celebrating its 25th birthday with a special offer that will see people get cheaper entry to the theme park.
It was back in March 1994 when Nemesis - Europe’s first inverted rollercoaster - was launched.
Now the park’s bosses are inviting back the ride’s creator, John Wardley, to meet visitors.
And from Friday to Sunday, the park is offering a reduced entry of £25 and a free limited edition ride photo for those who bring along an existing official ride photo from any of the rollercoasters.
“Nemesis 25” pin badges will also be available to the first 250 riders on the ride on each day of the event while there will be 25 per cent off all Nemesis merchandise.
Ride photos for Nemesis have been discounted from £9 to £6. Nemesis include Robbie Williams, Love Island and TV host Emma Willis
Usually, adult entry to the park on the day is £58 and it’s £34 for anyone booking five-plus days in advance.
On each of the three days, Nemesis will also stay open until 7pm.
Nemesis riders are whizzed over its 716m track several times in just one minute and 30 seconds.
Mr Wardley, 69, who also created The Smiler and Oblivion, said: “Back in the 1990s when we began work on Nemesis we knew it would take the theme park industry by storm. Nemesis has gone on to become one of the most loved rollercoasters in the world and I am incredibly proud that it continues to thrill and excite 25 years on.”
During its launch it was billed as “the world’s most intense ride experience”.
Over the years celebrities who have been on the ride include Prince William and Prince Harry, Robbie Williams, television presenter Emma Willis, and Love Island contestant Chris Taylor.
