MAN, Kathy Burke is good for the soul. Not so much a national treasure, as the nation’s foul-mouthed forthright voice of common sense and reason.

Our mucky moral compass, she spouts hilarious one-liners and takes delight in bursting pompous people’s bubbles, but is also renowned for her kindness and generosity.

She’s also the perfect person to present this new three-part series about all things Woman.

Broken down into the topics of

Beauty, Work and Motherhood, and Sex and Relationships, Kathy aims to explore a whole range of women’s experience of these often all-defining subjects and share her own opinions.

We’re starting with beauty, an area which Kathy openly confesses is not her specialist subject.

She talks plastic surgery and social media with

Love Island’s Megan, meets Lucian Freud’s muse ‘Big Sue’, visits a Harley Street surgeon, discusses the changing face of beauty with celebrity photographer Rankin and follows the journey of a shy 20-yearold having a boob job.

One thing she’s keen to stress is that this is very much not about criticising women’s differing choices or viewpoints.

As much as Kathy might not give a monkey’s about make-up or plastic surgery, equally she has no intentions of suggesting everyone should be that way.

Happily supporting any woman’s right to look and feel fabulous and enjoy it, her concerns are more about girls seeing it as the be all and end all. And what effects this obsession with physical perfection can have on those whose skin isn’t as thick as hers.
