Building firm bringing tools and job opportunities to new store

-

JOBS are set to be created in Derbyshire as a major retailer gets ready to open a new store.

National building, DIY and tools chain Toolstation has decided to set up a branch in Swadlincote’s new Optimum Business Park, in Optimum Road, off William Nadin Way, and is due to open ‘soon’, although no date has yet been revealed.

It will be the first Toolstation to open in the town. The firm supplies tools, accessories and building supplies to the trade, home improvers and self-builders.

Ahead of its opening, the hardware retailer is now advertising for a store supervisor dubbed by the chain as ‘the face of the store, with a salary of £8.85 an hour, plus bonuses. The job will involve serving customers, supporting the store manager, checking deliveries, picking items from the warehouse and stocking the shelves.

It is not been revealed how many jobs will be created in total but a similar store which recently opened in Newcastle under Lyme hired seven employees.

The Swadlincote store is one of 60 Toolstations opening in the UK this year, taking its estate to more than 300 outlets across the UK.

The chain is owned by builders’ merchant retailer Travis-Perkins, which also owns DIY firm Wickes.

Its new Swadlincote store will move into 10-unit Optimum Business Park which was completed in November, last year.

Similar retailer Screwfix is also located on the site.

Toolstation will be located in Unit F3 and will be opening from 7am to 7pm Monday to Saturday and Bank Holidays, and 9am to 4pm on Sundays. Parking is available.

Toolstation has been approached for comment.
