BEST OF THE REST
INTERIOR DESIGN MASTERS
BBC2, 8pm
OOH, we do love a creative competition.
Whether it’s baking, pottery, sewing or portrait painting, we love watching talented folks turn out impressive creations, with the odd tearful meltdown, bitchy comment or collapsing catastrophe thrown in for good measure.
This time it’s the turn of 10 amateur interior designers, who are all battling it out to win a commercial contract to design a bar at a top London hotel.
They’ll be supported by series host Fearne Cotton, and judged by former editor-in-chief of Elle Decoration Michelle Ogundehin, who each week will be ably assisted by an expert in the field.
Tonight it’s fashion designer and interiors guru Matthew Williamson.
The 10 eager contestants – some cocky, some terrified – are tasked with redesigning two show homes.
Split into two teams and given a room each, they’ve got to work together as well as try and shine individually.
Yeah, that’ll work.death
MURDER CASE
BBC2, 9pm
THIS powerful documentary series follows Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team, as it works on a heart-breaking and complex case.
BAFTA-winning film-maker Matt Pinder was given unprecedented access to the MIT’s operations: the police department which deals with Scotland’s most complex and large-scale criminal investigations.
This three-part series starts as a missing person’s case: 47-year-old mum Julie Reilly who hasn’t been seen or had contact with her family for several weeks. After an extensive search fails to find her, the MIT investigators are brought on board, and a horrifying forensic discovery leads to the realisation this is now a murder case.
They have a prime suspect, but know that they must do everything they can to find Julie’s body and gather enough evidence to be able to charge and ultimately convict him. Footage of interviews with Julie’s family pack a huge emotional punch, as does seeing the impact on the officers involved.
