Instant karma for sign vandal

YOBS ARE CAPTURED ON CCTV CAMERA

A YOB suffered instant karma when he kicked a sign outside a Derby business.

Video surveillance at the site captured the youth falling to the floor clearly in pain and then hopping on one leg in Alfreton Road.

The boss of a company in the street, Lemon Signs, says the youth had kicked out at one of its signs outside the premises and the film then shows him hopping with pain.

And another man who he appears to be friends with kicked over a different sign further up the road. That second sign proudly displayed a message of support for the NHS, bearing the #GratefulDerby message.

In the film, the second man is seen getting off his bike before attacking the NHS sign. It is jointly owned by Lemon Signs and another nearby business, Engineering Learing.

Martin Lemiesz, owner of Lemon Signs, said: “Do they just not have a brain? How did we end up being like this in society? This should not take place. People should not be doing that. What would happen if they met someone on the way. Would they damage that person instead?”

Last year, another half-naked vandal also kicked a sign in the same position. The NHS sign was created by the two businesses to show their appreciation for the NHS during the lockdown. But they were shocked when the thug destroyed it by kicking it. Mr Lemiesz said: “It just infuriates me that some people are allowed to behave in this manner without being penalised for it. I get that police can’t be everywhere at once but this is not acceptable behaviour.”

The incident took place on Tuesday between 7.30pm and 7.40pm. Police would like to speak to anyone who has information about the incident, especially anyone who might have been driving in the area and may have dash-cam footage of those involved. They can get in touch with police on 101 quoting reference number 20000267056. They could also get in touch through Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
