£2m mansion would be a hit with badminton fans

A SIX-bedroom mansion with its own badminton court has gone on the market for almost £2 million.

The property, just outside Derby, is a dream home set within three acres of land and even has its own adjoining independent cottage.

On top of its six bedrooms and the cottage there are also two self-contained flats within the Quarndon property – perfect for hosting the many guests that will surely want to visit. It has all been put on the market for £1.95 million.

On arriving at the property visitors are greeted by a front door flanked by stone pillars. The reception hall leads into three other rooms, all with high ceilings, polished timber floors and tall windows.

The first, dubbed the “morning room”, has large windows looking south across a garden, with a fireplace built into timber panelling across one wall.

The second, the drawing room, is flooded with natural light, thanks to a deep bay window, and boasts a mantelpiece with fluted pillars and intricate mouldings.

The third reception room, currently used as a dining room, is lined with built-in bookcases has a fireplace, this time made of mahogany, as well as more views of the gardens.

The kitchen, on the ground floor, has a Belfast sink, hardwood floors and two ovens, and space for a dining table. There is also a laundry room.

Through the garage you will find a 58ft by 33ft badminton court. It’s an unusual addition but certainly one that would impress guests – and save on visits to the gym.

The main staircase leads to six double bedrooms. Two are connected, but there is an opportunity to turn the smallest into a dressing room, which in turn leads to an ensuite.

There are four bathrooms and all are on the first floor.

There are also two self-contained flats – one on the ground floor and one on the first floor. On the ground floor is a studio apartment and on the first floor is a one-bedroom flat, both have kitchen facilities.

At the edge of the mansion is the “gardener’s cottage”, with a sitting room and separate kitchen on the ground floor, and two bedrooms on the first floor.

Anyone wanting to find out more about the property can call estate agents Fisher German on 01530 412821.

The Lexus driver then went to get fuel and the other man is reported to have got into a grey van and followed him around the car park, before blocking him. The van driver then drove into the Lexus, it is claimed.

A police spokesperson said: “We’d really like to speak to the man in the image and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, but hasn’t already come forward.”
