Residents evicted over anti-social behaviour
RESIDENTS have been removed from a home in Derby following complaints about serious antisocial behaviour.
A house in Chaddesden has been boarded up by Derbyshire police to prevent anyone returning to the property following the grant ing of a three-month closure order.
The property has been the focus of numerous reports of anti-social behaviour, drug-related activity and general disorder.
The order was issued on Thursday, September 24, following a hearing at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court about the property in Radnor Street.
The case was brought before the court by the Chief Constable of Derbyshire Constabulary, following work by the Chaddesden Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team.
The closure order was granted by the court as they believed that the use of the premises has caused serious nuisance to members of the public and the order is necessary to prevent the nuisance and disorder from continuing.
The order prevents any person from entering the address other than authorised personnel.
Sgt Rachel Fowkes, who leads Chaddesden Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Our team has been working alongside partner agencies to target anti-social behaviour, as it became apparent that other residents in the neighbourhood were suffering as a result of the issues and disorder at this property.
“We hope the local community, particularly those who live nearby, are reassured by this closure order.
“Anti-social behaviour can have a negative effect on people’s lives and we are committed to working with our partners to do all we can to target it.”
