THE virtual awards ceremony will take place on December 8 and will be streamed live on Derbyshire­Live. Celebrity guests, interactiv­e activities and prize giveaways will make the ceremony even more exciting for everyone in the community.

GOOD NEIGHBOUR

We are celebratin­g those unsung heroes who have put themselves out to improve the lives of those around them. Do you know someone who helps their neighbours by running errands, or someone who keeps an eye on people living alone or has helped out in a crisis?

HEALTHCARE HEROES

There are hundreds of health workers in our region, both paid and voluntary, who make such a difference to so many people. It could be a nurse, a doctor or a voluntary worker who dedicates their life to a health organisati­on.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

Thousands of dedicated volunteers devote countless hours to helping people in our community and raising money for charity. This category will recognise the people who carry out a multitude of good work, without asking for anything in return.

BRAVERY AND COURAGE

For battling against the odds to help others, or putting themselves at risk to save someone in danger.

COMMUNITY ACTION

Have you made things happen in your neighbourh­ood? We want to hear from individual­s or groups that have worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life for people in their community. Whether you raised money for a new play area, organised a demonstrat­ion, or simply campaigned for safer roads.

YOUNG HEROES

This will recognise any young person who has overcome adversity or shown outstandin­g bravery and maturity for their years.

ENVIRONMEN­TAL HEROES

This award aims to highlight and celebrate activity across Derbyshire that is helping to improve sustainabi­lity, tackle climate change or enhance the environmen­t.

EMERGENCY SERVICES

For police, fire, ambulance, paramedics or air rescue who have gone beyond the call of duty.

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMEN­T AWARD

We’re looking for that special person who has selflessly helped others, whether in the workplace, an organisati­on, or in their community over a number of years. They might not seek recognitio­n for themselves, so help us to bring their achievemen­ts to a wider audience.

HERO OF DERBYSHIRE 2020

Sponsored by the Derbyshire Police and Crime Commission­er Derbyshire Police and Crime Commission­er Hardyal Dhindsa will present this award to the overall winner who has been selected from the evening’s category winners. They will be named Derbyshire­Live Hero of Derbyshire 2020.
