‘In a challenging year, we have seen the good that has come from people, particularly the young’
A SPECIAL young person is to be honoured at this year’s DerbyshireLive Heroes Awards at a heartwarming ceremony that will celebrate the best in our region.
Ten awards will be up for grabs at the awards ceremony, scheduled to take place live on our website and on Facebook Live on Tuesday, December 8.
The Young Heroes category will acknowledge exceptional youngsters who have overcome adversity, or who have shown outstanding bravery and maturity for their years.
They will stand alongside winners in categories including Good Neighbour, Emergency Services and the overall Hero of Derbyshire 2020.
This year, the Young Heroes category is sponsored by Cosy, an ethical educational supplies business.
Peter Ellse, chief executive of Cosy, said: “There are hundreds of people across Derbyshire and the city of Derby whose bravery, determination and selflessness deserve to be recognised.
“Cosy, who are champions of young people, are delighted to be sponsoring the Young Heroes category of the DerbyshireLive Heroes awards.
“This year has been challenging for all of us and throughout it all, the tenacity and maturity of young people in our country has been admirable. We have also seen the good that has come from people, particularly young people, working together to help the community, of which young people are at the heart.
“We have seen such worthy candidates in this category over the past four years.
“I’m sure that the Derbyshire Heroes Awards 2020 won’t fail to highlight the excellent work done by young people in Derby and Derbyshire.”
Our heroes will be celebrated at a virtual awards ceremony, set to take place on December 8.
At 7pm. Judges have shortlisted three finalists in each category and the event will be streamed live.
Special guests and prize giveaways will make the ceremony a glittering and special occasion – even from the comfort of the nominees’ homes.
