Five more Derbyshire virus deaths

A FURTHER five people across Derbyshire have died after testing positive for Covid-19, according to the latest figures released by NHS England.

In the latest 24-hour period, 134 new cases of coronaviru­s have been recorded in the county.

Nationwide, the death toll now stands at 60,113 and 1,674,134 people have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic. This represents an increase of 414 and 14,879 respective­ly.

All five new fatalities were recorded at Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

Here is the breakdown for each local authority area: Amber Valley - 3,559 (up 17) Bolsover - 2,544 (up 10) Chesterfie­ld - 2,729 (up 10) Derby - 7,932 (increase of 44) Derbyshire Dales - 1,258 (up 5) Erewash - 2,952 (up 11)

High Peak - 2,384 (up 13)

The UK’s death toll from Covid-19 yesterday passed 60,000 – less than a month after it passed the 50,000 milestone.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificat­e, coupled with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 76,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.
