‘Not clever’ vandal attack ...outside police station

-

A FOOLISH vandal has been arrested for damaging a phone outside a Derbyshire police station.

Officers at Swadlincote Police Station were inside the building when the culprit tried to destroy the phone.

Instead of getting away with it like he hoped, the person was taken into custody by police who had some stern words for him.

Officers from Swadlincote Police SNT remarked he was “not a very clever person”.

In a post on Facebook, officers remarked on the foolishness of this particular endeavour.

They wrote “Not a very clever person! Would you really commit an offence outside Swadlincote Police Station when PC Holmes

and his trusted side kick PC Trusell are on duty?.

“Someone thought it was a good idea to damage the phone outside the station! One under arrest, after establishing the offenders details he was told ‘it is good to talk’.”

In the post, officers added they had also stopped a “nuisance vehicle” in the town, with the owner giving a bizarre excuse to officers when called out on their driving.

It said: “Thank you to our public for reporting a nuisance vehicle on Hearthcote Road.

“PC Saddington and PCSO Hillman located the driver of the Black Fiat and were shocked to find a two-year-old child in it.

“When the driver was warned about the manner of his driving his reply was ‘I am trying to get my child to sleep’. This is not the reply PC Saddington was expecting!

“Driver was given a Section 59 warning and we will be seizing his car if he does anything similar, non-essential journey dealt with and social services made aware.”

On a lighter note, police were left smiling after finding a woman picking her son up from school while wearing a dinosaur outfit.

It said: “PCSO Dean came across this lovely parent who dressed up as a dinosaur, her son had been struggling during lockdown. The lady surprised her son on his ninth birthday as he left St George’s school, Gresley.”
