One new Covid-related death is reported in Derbyshire hospital

A NEW Covid-related death has been recorded in hospitals serving Derbyshire.

Another 36 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in Derbyshire, according to the latest statistics released by the Government yesterday.

The total is the same as Saturday’s update and includes 10 positive tests in Derby and 26 across the wider Derbyshire area.

The most recent hospital death means a total of 2,099 people have died at hospitals in the county since the start of the pandemic.

Yesterday’s figures bring the total of recorded coronaviru­s cases in Derby and Derbyshire to 68,612.

The total number of cases reported in Derbyshire (figure in brackets indicates new cases recorded in the past 24 hours)

■■Amber Valley - 8,559 (4 new cases)

■■ Bolsover - 5,923 (3 new cases)

■■Chesterfie­ld - 6,091 (4 new cases) Derby - 19,965 (10 new cases)

■■Derbyshire Dales - 2,968 (no new cases)

■■Erewash - 6,987 (5 new cases)

■■High Peak - 4,918 (4 new case)

■■North East Derbyshire - 5,923 (4 new cases)

■■South Derbyshire - 7,277 (2 new cases)

Nationwide, the Government said a further 10 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Sunday, bringing the UK total to 126,836.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have been 150,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificat­e.

The Government also said that, as of 9am on Sunday, there had been a further 2,297 lab-confirmed cases in the UK. It brings the total to 4,359,388.

Numbers for cases and deaths over Easter will be affected by incomplete data plus a longer than usual lag in reporting.
