A PAEDOPHILE who kidnapped and sexually abused a young girl 20 years ago has died four years into a 10-year prison sentence.

Vile Arnold Baxter had been sentenced in 2017 after DNA evidence linked him to the kidnap and indecent assault of a six-year-old girl back in 2001.

The girl had been playing outside in the street in Barton under Needwood, when Baxter struck.

He pulled up, grabbed the terrified younger and bundled her in his car. He then drove to a quiet spot where he sexually abused her. Afterwards he dropped the traumatised schoolgirl off outside a house where there was a light on in nearby Walton in South Derbyshire, which just happened to be the home of someone who knew the youngster’s family and the alarm was raised.

He got away with his evil crime for 15 years and must have thought he would never but caught, until a stroke of luck for detectives when Baxter was arrested for a drink driving offence in 2016. Then routine fingerprints and DNA samples were taken – and provided a match to saliva samples of the little girl’s attacker.

Baxter was charged and pleaded guilty to the sex attack at Stafford Crown Court in 2017. He was sentenced to nine years in prison.

However, in 2018, he appeared at Warwick Crown Court where the pervert pleaded guilty to three charges of downloading 6,582 disgusting indecent images of children. These offences were committed before 2017.

It has now been revealed Baxter died at Royal Stoke Hospital on October 30, last year, An inquest into his death will be held on Thursday, April 22.
