Couple’s cool idea for igloos in your garden

A DERBY couple have decided to make the most of loosening Covid restrictions by giving people the chance to set up an igloo in their garden.
Carla and Callan Watson, from Mickleover, set up their firm Derbyshire Igloos two weeks ago, but are already being inundated with people wanting something different.
The couple are hiring out marquees in the shape of an igloo, something which allows to people to sit outside while adhering to social distancing rules no matter the weather.
The couple have set up the business while also continuing in their day jobs, with Carla working as an accountant and Callan working as an engineer for Bombardier.
Carla, 27, said they were inspired to set up the business after trying to find ways to perk up their social life with the loosening lockdown restrictions.
“We came out of lockdown and we were missing meeting our family and friends,” she said.
“We looked around at marquees, that’s when we came across the igloo.
“It’s weather-proof, it’s really spacious and you can have fairy lights in the evening to keep it light.”
After testing it out, Carla and Callan have decided to started renting them out for people who want to use one.
It takes one-and-a-half hours to set the igloo up each time, but Carla says it’s well worth it.
“It’s such a beautiful and symmetrical design,” she said. “It’s been really brave for us to do this - it’s our first business. Callan handles the engineering and building side of things. We both love people, that side of the business has been really good and we’ve alreay had bookings into the summer.”
Carla says they have big plans currently the igloo they offer is for dining, but in the future she wants to offer one that works as an outdoor cinema, and maybe even one that can fit around a hot tub.
