made mega doughnuts with the caption “Eating my weight in Project Doughnut”. The doughnuts were ordered by the 26-year-old’s family for a party held in his honour. Despite a further 80 doughnuts being ordered for the party, there is no danger of Adam Peaty putting on weight – he will soon be in the unfamiliar surroundings of a dance studio as he prepares to appear in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, which begins on BBC1 next month.

“Like many others, we watched and celebrated his achievements out in Tokyo, so it was an absolute privilege to receive the order for his homecoming party and we were thrilled to create the Olympic themed mega-doughnuts especially for him.

“I can’t say we’re your typical Strictly fans, but we’ll certainly be paying attention to how he gets on. Maybe we’ll even create a special glitter-ball themed doughnut if he wins that. too.”
