The legendary Tina Turner has been leaving audiences mesmerised for over six decades.

Her string of memorable hits and electrifying stage presence has earned her recognition in the musical hall of fame.

And Derbyshire CCC’s upcoming outdoor concert will get you ready to re-live popular throwbacks such as Proud Mary, What’s Love Got to Do With It, and River Deep Mountain High all over again.

Tsemaye Bob-Egbe, lead singer of An Evening of Tina said: “There’s only one Tina, and no one else can be Tina, but just being able to live through her story and sing her songs is so special to me. I love bringing the essence of who she is to her songs when I perform them - the way Tina moves and connects with her audience - I think that’s the most important thing about who she was as an artist and why we love her so much.”

“If you’ve ever seen the TINA West End musical I performed in or know Tina’s story, then you’ll know she succeeded even though everything was against her. She was in an abusive relationship, and the racism in the music industry during the 70s and 80s was very prominent.”

She only found success in her 40s but she’s still an inspiration, and that’s why I look up to her so much.

“What I’m looking forward to the most about the show is connecting with the audience. Over the past 18 months, we haven’t had the chance to enjoy live music in person, and the energy you get to experience on stage is always so incredible.”

Audiences at An Evening of Tina can get geared up for two hours of back-to-back hits from the Queen of Rock and Roll, with incredible vocals from other West End and tour-leading performers, a live band and brilliant dancers.

Derbyshire CCC will have also have a raft of Covid-19 safety measures in place to make sure visitors feel as safe and possible during the ongoing event.

An Evening of Tina will be an outdoor concert - and the open air venue will act as an extra safety measure for guests inside a large capacity stadium.

Visitors are encouraged to wear face masks while moving inside the venue, regular cleaning procedures and hand sanitisation stations will also be in place on-site.

Tsemaye Bob-Egbe added: “Audience members can expect to have lots of fun during the show. It’s literally just a night to forget everything that’s been going on during the last year and a half and just immerse yourself in Tina.”

“I’m going to get you up and out of your seat as soon as the show starts so be sure to clap and sing along to each song.

In my opinion performing isn’t even all about me - it’s about the people

I share the stage with and the audience I’m just there as a vessel for everyone to have a good time and give them a sense of escapism.”

Derbyshire County Cricket Club Chief Executive, Ryan Duckett, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors back to The Incora County Ground for our first outdoor concert event since 2019. The show has received great reviews on its tour so far and it promises to be a fantastic night featuring the very best of the West End, including the star of the Tina Turner musical.”

“This will be our fourth event of this type in Derby, they are always popular among the local community, and it’ll be great to see people enjoying themselves again with a first live music event after what’s been a challenging period for everyone.”
