Arielle gets your vote
LITTLE ARIELLE IS CROWNED TOP OF THE TOTS
MORE than a million votes were cast – and it was this radiant smile that stole many of their hearts – making this beautiful Mickleover baby the winner of the Derby Telegraph’s Cute Kids competition.
And for coming out as top tot in the competition, little Arielle Jardine, who is just 11 months old, has won herself and her family a £500 prize.
Mum Laura Giles said the competition was an “amazing opportunity” for her daughter.
She said: “I’m really excited for her, really happy. I’m shocked because I didn’t really think out of that many people she would come first.
“I did tell her and excitement was there because I was excited for her, but I don’t think she really understood.”
The competition launched on April 17 and saw more than 180 children – drawing 1,002,910 votes over the competition’s two rounds.
Laura said: “I’m shocked it was that many and that she was able to win, but yeah I’m really excited for her.”
Arielle, whose first birthday is on September 4, lives with her mum, her dad, and her eight-year-old brother.
When asked about what they might put the winnings towards, Laura said: “We probably will take Arielle on a minibreak or something with it. She’s not been to a beach yet so it would be nice to take her there.”
Laura also said that she wanted to put some of the money aside for when Arielle is older.
And she hasn’t ruled out entering Arielle in further competitions in the future.
“We enquired about modelling for her not so long ago and so we probably will continue with that. I think it would be a good opportunity for her to get her into that line. “[It’s] something to tell her when she is a bit older and something for her to look back on.”
The runners-up in the competition are Oscar McGrady (second) and Francesca Richards (third).
