Suspended term for drug dealer caught concealing heroin and cocaine

-

POLICE found wraps of crack cocaine and heroin between a drug dealer’s buttocks when they stopped and searched him.

Derby Crown Court heard how Conor Bell was taking the class A substances to Sheffield when his car was pulled over in Matlock.

The 26-year-old, who has previous similar offences to his name, revealed the wraps during a strip search at the station.

Now he has been offered an opportunity to stay out of prison as long as he can keep out of trouble.

Sarah Slater, prosecuting, said the offence happened on November 5, 2019.

She said officers pulled over a Ford Fiesta owned by Bell on the A6 Bakewell Road, in Matlock.

Miss Slater said Bell was in the front passenger seat and another man was driving.

She said: “They were taken to the police station where a search of Mr Bell revealed he had two wraps hidden between his buttocks.

“There were 7.6g of crack cocaine and 2.4g of heroin plus other individual deals of both drugs.

“He has one previous conviction for possession with intent to supply cocaine from June 2015.”

Bell, of Errington Way, Sheffield, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply both drugs.

Handing him a 21-month jail sentence, suspended for two years, Judge Shaun Smith QC said: “His basis of plea is that he was transporting the drugs for someone higher up the chain and that he had no influence on those above him.”

As well as the suspended prison term, he ordered Bell to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work and attend 15 rehabilitation sessions.
