The weather’s changed.

Its chilly and cold.

No sunshine to keep the grandkids warm.

Shoes, socks and boots now on. No bare-footed on the floor, lawn, grass.

Playing ball, the breeze takes the ball away.

Not in the direction they wanted to play.

Football, tennis, the ball’s in the breeze.

And no hope of badminton, please. So down to Wellington boots. To paddle and splash in the puddles. The grandkids say it’s cold.

Do you want your scarf and hat,

I say.

No, grandma, they say.

We’re waiting for a sunny day, so we can run barefeet and play.
