Dogs rescued from ‘appalling’ conditions at Derbyshire farm
DOGS were among animals rescued from appalling conditions at a Derbyshire farm.
Numerous dogs, including puppies, were found living in their own waste and with little access to food and water at a farm in Newhall on Friday.
Officers from Derbyshire police, the RSPCA and dog wardens, as well as environmental health and trading standards, were all present at the site. The animals which were seized were taken for veterinary treatment, including one puppy which police said collapsed after officials arrived at the farm. Images released by police show Jack Russells and spaniels next to officers, as well as cows standing in deep mud. SGt Tarj Nizzer said: “This operation was planned and executed within 48 hours notice, I want to thank everyone involved. The teams worked long hours to pull all these resources together at short notice to protect these animals.”
